Metro 2033: Redux ( 2010 )

Difficulty( Survival - Ranger Hardcore )
Time Played: ( 12 Hours )
In Order to get prepared for Metro: Exodus ( Coming Fall 2018 ). I Thought of playing the first-time playthrough of Both the previous games ( Metro: 2033 & Metro: Last light ) both been in the latest ( Redux Edition )
Metro 2033 is a first-person shooter survival horror video game developed by 4A Games and published by THQ. It was released in 2010 for the Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows. The story is based on Dmitry Glukhovsky's novel of the same name, and is set in the ruins of Moscow following a nuclear war, where the survivors are forced to live in underground metro tunnels. Players control Artyom, a man who must save his home station from the dangers lurking within the Metro.
The Best part about Metro 2033 is that Imagine a Game where frozen city ruined long ago by its own weapons of destruction, humankind clings to survival. In dirty overcrowded stations, women haggle for scraps at the market as old men mourn the world they lost and children run underfoot, knowing no life beyond their meager subterranean existence. The hardier souls stand at the gates, vigilant against the beastly offspring of Armageddon, while the bravest venture out into the tunnels to trade, scavenge, and scout the dark reaches of the man-made underground wilderness. This is what you get in a world of Metro 2033 So here's the review of Metro 2033: Redux Edition.

Pros:
  • Let's start off with the game'satmosphere, ambiance, graphics, and sound, THQ and DeepSilver thought of just about everything. From the thick fog, to green toxic air, rain that blurs your vision a little, spiders and flies that sometimes land on your gas mask, to downright having to wipe blood and grime off of your gas mask to see; the latter actually becomes rather prominent, as when you are in a heavy firefight, you will absolutely need to wipe the blood off to see where you're shooting. Its fills the blanks by slowly unveiling its rich, multifaceted world. Everywhere you go, from bustling stations to lonely tunnels, you will find clues that broaden and enrich your understanding. Eavesdropping on an enemy conversation will shed light on Metro mythology, while bioluminescent flora raises questions about post-nuclear biology. You glean a lot of information from just paying attention, and through this observation you create a kind of patchwork, discovery-fueled narrative that eventually comes to an intriguing conclusion. and it makes the world of Metro 2033 actually really interesting to see in that perspective
  • Metro 2033 story is actually pretty Great i must say, it takes you through creepy Metro stations in Moscow, where you will see how people last hope is in the metros subways, while also killing Nazies, Communists, bandits and the Flesh hungry mutated creatures themself. The game includes a Morality system that affects the outcome of the game and it's ending. A lot of this game is a linear story but luckily it's backed up by a substantial story driven content
  • Metro 2033 difficulty setting ( Survival-Ranger hardcore ) is no joke, You will die with a single shot to an Head, or 2-4 shots to an body. Meaning AI in this game is great and brutal at the same time. Ammo / Medkits are scarce to find, which may result in trying to go on the stealth method ( BUT Not Necessary)
  • Metro 2033 has deep survival elements to its gameplay. The currency of choice are military-grade bullets, which can be exchanged in a few metro stations for ammo, grenades, gas mask filters, med-kits,weapons, and weapon upgrades. And it's fun and fits perfectly with this game. Exploration is also worth it to find ammo / medkits / gas mask / filters / weapons and grenades to survive in this Metro’s Creepy World. It should also be mentioned that most of the guns are old-fashioned, and some of them, such as the flamethrower and pneumatics, require Super Soaker styled pumping to get them to work.
  • Metro 2033 have a High replayability value, as there are two different modes and two different endings to obtain; along with 51 worthwhile diary entries to pick up and read
  • The soundtrack in Metro: 2033 just absolutely stunning, and as near to cinema quality as it can get. In fact, the entire game itself comes off as cinematic; at some point or another, it houses everything from horror, to action, to drama, to even fleeting moments of comedy.
  • Metro 2033 play style lives in a gray area between action and stealth without a rigid or discrete boundary between the two. For safety's sake it's usually best to play things quietly, and unlike in most FPS with stealth elements, being quiet isn't a matter of finding a giant sniper rifle and affixing a silencer to it. Enemies will notice when the guy you stabbed during his toilet break doesn't come back to his post, let alone when you perforate the skull of someone standing ten feet away from them. When you do go loud, enemies try to outflank you, flush you out with grenades and even get suspicious if/when you stop shooting back at them. Non-human enemies even have distinct weaknesses, and methods of attacking that vary from species to species.
Cons:
The Major Issue In this game is the stealth mechanic, it’s because the mechanic of stealth does not work with how the game is designed, If you suddenly miss a headshot or miss a throw knife you suddenly became like a glowing light even when hiding in a dark place, And if you get spotted there is no way to hide and restart the stealth, Its either by restarting the whole checkpoint or fighting your way through, resulting in wasting the Ammo / Medkits which is scarce on the hardest difficulty
  • While Animations of the characters might be good for some, Mainly its looks significantly Worse on others. Not only in the original release, But also on the Redux version
  • The default Field of view ( FOV ) is just very low and having no setting in the menu is just like a question of “WHY” to the Devs, and the only way of changing the setting is on going to Game Directory File is just a disappointing and stupid
Verdict for Metro 2033: Redux
